News ReleaseGestureTek’s Gesture-Control and Multi-Touch Surface Computing Innovations Unveiled at Integrated Systems Europe Show
3D Depth Sensing System Tracks Hand & Body Movement GestureTek’s pioneering 3D tracking and control technology brings a new level of interactivity to motion-controlled displays. The company’s patented gesture control software uses depth sensing cameras to track full-body movement or subtle hand gestures in complete 3D space and translates those movements into computer commands. Depth tracking provides a fully gestural interface for electronic devices such as televisions, set top boxes, game consoles, personal computers and interactive kiosks, without the need for a remote control or other touch-based interface. The system can be programmed to recognize virtually any pose or gesture, including hand waves, pointing or any combination of recognizable motions. For example, hand waves can turn on a television set or activate a multi-media presentation. Circular hand movements can adjust volume and hand swiping motions can control menu selections. Other applications include full body avatar control, two-handed and multi-touch control and hand tracking for 360º navigation control (replacing a joystick). 3D Tracking & Control Creates Lifelike 3D Virtual Reality Experiences GestureTek’s 3D depth sensing system allows for lifelike virtual reality experiences. The system puts a user’s real-time 3D image or 3D avatar on the screen, where they see themselves interacting with characters and objects in a computer-generated three dimensional virtual world. The camera measures changes in positioning and distance between the user and the surrounding environment, captures those movements onscreen and then translates them into computer commands. “GestureTek’s depth based tracking solution identifies and tracks the user, ignoring the movement of passers-by and other environment distractions,” says GestureTek’s Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer, Francis MacDougall. “It’s a great option for malls, tourist attractions, presentation centers or boardrooms.” Along with creating applications for
3D and 2D interactive experiences on personal computers, game consoles, mobile
devices and digital signs, GestureTek has deployed its 3D tracking solution in
public displays. At the Beijing Olympics,
for example, GestureTek’s hand tracking technology powered a spectacular
interactive flight simulation attraction that allowed individuals to explore

GestureTek Introduces The Cube™ – A Portable, Turnkey, Plug and Play Interactive Projection System GestureTek will unveil The Cube in Europe at the ISE Show. The Cube is a compact, turnkey, 'plug and play' interactive projection system that brings the power of gesture control to virtually any projection surface. An interactive 80” diagonal projection can be delivered on nearly any floor, wall, table or counter for branding, advertising, entertainment and product promotion. “The Cube is very cost efficient. It allows for a dynamic interactive projection without the need to affix hardware to the ceiling and eliminates the need for a technician,” says Vincent John Vincent, GestureTek’s President and Co-Founder. See The Cube web page at http://www.gesturetek.com/cube/introduction.php . GestureTek Enhances Its Multi-Touch Solution GestureTek’s award-winning multi-touch technology lets multiple people interact simultaneously with multi-media content, access corporate information, play games, create special effects, manipulate art and photographs and view advertising. People can use two hands to control content, using either touch or point gestures. GestureTek’s multi-touch table now comes with 30”, 40” or 55” screens or can be customized in any shape or size. Also new, over a dozen incredible ‘out-of-the-box’ special effects, games and applications now come included with the table, many of which will be on display at the ISE show. Applications can also be customized to suit specific needs. See GestureTek’s Multi-Touch Table web page at http://www.gesturetek.com/illuminate/productsolutions_illuminatetable.php . European News: Object Recognition and Vertical Multi-Touch GestureTek’s multi-touch technology with object recognition technology is being used in powerful wayfinding tables at the New York City Visitors Center (NYVIC). The multi-touch tables help tourists from Europe and around the world make the most of their New York City vacation.
